So, last night my boyfriend and I went out on a date. We went to go see Finding Dory, and had a lot of fun, but there was some down time between dinner and the movie….2 hours to be exact. We weren’t sure what to do with all that time, so we ended up at Starbucks watching the sunset and the moon rise over cups of coffee.
It was nice, and it reminded me of my time at West Chester University. I spent a semester there before I transferred to Penn State, and I got to experience life as a traditional student for the semester. So….Not…Me! But, I digress.
On campus, there’s a starbucks, and if you were to tour most 4 year dorming colleges you would find some sort of cafe, usually with WiFi. The idea is that it makes a great study place and hang out for students, and it does!
When I went to WCU, I would bring my laptop and my books and set up camp. I’d “buy” a drink…I put buy in quotes because I used Ram Bucks which is an account where parents put their money on a card for their kids. So, it’s not like we as students actually feel the cost associated with the entire process. But, I’d buy a drink, set up camp and wait for friends to swing by and join me. We could easily spend the next 5 hours there rotating who stayed only to get up due to classes.
Not exactly a common finding for non-traditional students! Lol first, on my campus the coffee….not so great! The only good part is Temperature Tuesday where the coffee is the price of the temperature outside, and with Pennsylvania winters, there are days when the cafeteria pays you for buying coffee.
There is no Starbucks on my campus, and the local Starbucks is filled with business people, and certainly not enough seating to camp out like we did in WCU. It would also probably be frowned upon by the store.
So, usually, if my friends want coffee, it’s either Dunkin Donuts drive through, because we certainly don’t have 5 hours to just sit around, or make it ourselves…because now that we pay for the drinks ourselves, No Body! can afford Starbucks!
Lol. It’s funny how the value of a dollar becomes so much more important to a person when the money comes out of their account rather than someone elses.

Starbucks is expensive, but I can’t get enough of the Hibiscus Refresher! It’s a problem!
Oh I know what you mean!!!
